All, I've got a Lenovo laptop with a SSD lock in place on the Intel 530 drive.

Do you have a spare Lenovo laptop of the same model or even a Lenovo desktop that you could temporarily put the drive in and try to get into it?
If successfully got into it, you might be able to disable the password feature.

A master password would defeat the purpose of encryption.
Not a "master" in terms of a universal unlocker for ALL drives, instead a master which was perhaps set at the same time as this user password, which would allow for unlocking in dissimilar hardware.
I do not currently have another Lenovo on hand, though I've considered that may be required.
It shocks me, that in 2016, a known DRIVE password can't be entered on another system, to simply unlock it and carry on with a recovery operation.

I'm assuming the drive was encrypted using the TPM module of the laptop.
